Who am I?
My name is Matt M. I am currently enrolled at South Western High School. I pride myself on my leadership abilities, and academic accomplishments. It is my goal to attend Pitt, eventually become an Aerospace, or Structural Engineer, and start my own personal engineering firm. This is the reason that I took the Principles of Engineering class my senior year of high school. I had the choice to leave school a period early every day for a semester, but I decided that it was more worthwhile to stay and take a class that will potentially benefit my future.
My Decision:
I have no regrets with my decision to take the class. I have really enjoyed the class, and I can tell that I am learning a lot. Not only am I learning many things, but I am realizing just how important it all is, and how it applies to every day life. This class does not teach the "theoreticals", it teaches how those theories are used in engineering, and how they are applied in the real world.
Hands-On Experience:
The only thing that I do not enjoy about high school is that the majority of classes do not offer any hands-on experience, and everything is theoretical. No matter how much you run problems on paper, you usually do not get to learn how it is really applied and how it works in the real world. The Principles of Engineering class offers this exact hands-on experience, which just so happens to be the best way that I can learn. This class, and I are a perfect match.
What is this portfolio?
This portfolio will walk you through many of the projects that were offered in our Principles of Engineering class at South Western High School. It will also show the progression in my classwork from Unit 1 to Unit 4, and my progression as a student/future engineer.
